Honda Mechanic Repair & Maintenance
Honda owners tend to keep their vehicles a long time — and for good reason. But the Civics, Accords, and CR-Vs that hit 200,000 miles aren't the ones that skipped maintenance. At 360 Auto & Repair, we service Honda vehicles at our three locations in Kennewick, Richland, and West Richland.

Common Issues with Honda Vehicles
These are the repairs that actually come through our bays on Honda vehicles
High Frequency
Honda CR-V & Civic (1.5T, 2017–2020) — Fuel Dilution in Engine Oil
The 1.5L turbo engine has a documented problem where fuel mixes into the engine oil, particularly in cold climates and short-trip driving where the engine never fully warms up. Contaminated oil loses its lubrication effectiveness and accelerates internal wear over time. Honda issued TSBs acknowledging the issue but never a formal recall. Signs include an oil level that rises between changes and a faint fuel smell at the dipstick.
High Frequency
Honda Civic CVT (2016–2021) — Transmission Shudder
CVT shudder on acceleration is a documented and common issue on 9th and 10th-gen Civics. Honda's TSBs call for updated CVT fluid and a TCM software update as the first fix. If shudder continues after the fluid service, internal CVT wear is likely present. Catching it at the fluid stage is significantly less expensive than a full transmission replacement.
Common
Honda Accord — Power Steering Rack Leaks (Pre-2013)
Hydraulic power steering racks on 2003–2012 Accords develop fluid leaks as rack seals harden with age and mileage. Symptoms include stiff or inconsistent steering feel, a whining noise when turning, and fluid under the vehicle. This is a wear-related failure on older Accords — catching it early keeps the repair straightforward.
Common
Honda Civic (9th Gen, 2012–2015) — Engine Block Cracking from Overheating
Some 9th-gen Civics with the 1.8L engine experienced block cracking caused by overheating, typically from a stuck thermostat or slow coolant leak that went undiagnosed. A cracked block is an expensive repair. On this generation specifically, any overheating warning or unexplained coolant loss warrants prompt inspection.
